Race Report Rounds 7 & 8: Falmouth

2025 British Cycling Schwalbe British 4X Series Rounds 7 & 8: Falmouth, Cornwall
Rounds 7 and 8 of the 2025 Schwalbe British 4X Series took place under blue skies and sunshine in Falmouth, Cornwall over the weekend. Falmouth Bike Park have done an amazing job preparing one of the UK’s premier 4X facilities and this weekend was one of the best prepared tracks we have ever seen. It is one of the best 4X race tracks in the UK. With a great mix of overtaking, multi lines and technical sections, this track is loved by amateurs and elites.

With the track being just 1 mile away from the nearest beach this is also an excuse for the riders to arrive a little earlier than usual to enjoy the idyllic setting that this unique track has. The open practice session on Friday was busy as riders sessioned the track working out the best lines for racing on Saturday.
Saturday:
Saturday rolled around and the weather was playing ball! The forecast was perfect and the track looked incredible.
After a practice session in the morning racing commenced at 13.15. The elite mens race was incredible to watch during the motos. Every race could have been a final, such was the depth of talent. After 3 motos it was Dan Cay and Ian Forsyth with wins and looking strong.

With such depth the semi finals were always going to be tough. A big shock as Series leader Ian Forsyth exited in the semi finals, as did Joe Wallbridge, Lucas Rose and Ben Jones. Forsyth went onto win the small final and claim 5th on the podium.
In the final, it was another dominating ride by Dan Cay to claim his 3rd win of the season, ahead of Tom Bell. Charlie Currie managed to hold off Duncan Ferris for 3rd.
In the Senior Women’s, Elizabeth Bown returned to British 4X and meant business. Taking the win from Katherine Oldfield, she was absolutely flying all day. Claire Mardell rounded out the podium in 3rd.

There was some incredible racing and we wanted to congratulate all the winners who put on a great show all day!
Max Ralph, Alastair Keen, Evie Knight, Leo Britz, Olivia Webb, Amelie Eaton, Marcus Mullen, Harry Stephens, Jack Davey, Jake Hart, Izak Williams, Claire Mardell, David Richardson, James Moores and Matthew Pratley, who all took the wins in their respective categories.

After the racing we had the podium celebrations and then it was time for BBQ’s and relaxing at the beach whilst the stories of the day were told around open fires.
Sunday:
Sunday morning arrived and round 8 was all set. Racing got underway at 12.15.
With no track changes this year, the track that raced so well was used again on Sunday. With blue skies and even more sunshine, the scene was set for another great day.

In Senior women it was another flawless race from Elizabeth Bown

So in elite it was wide-open for another winner in 2025. In the semi finals it was series leader Ian Forsyt, Lucas Rose, Tom Bell and Joe Wallbridge who did not make the final. After a big crash in the semi final it was Ian Forsyth who was able to take the win and 5th place on the podium.

Onto the final. The gate dropped and it was a huge battle through turn 1 as the riders jostled for position. Dan Wagstaff got himself into the lead whilst Charlie Currie was fighting with Duncan Ferris and Dan Cay. The speed was high and there were a few passes back and forth but across the finish line it was Wagstaff from Currie, Ferris and Cay.

Just like Saturday, it would be impossible to select any stand out rides because every race had passes and calculated riding. So we wanted to mention all the riders who took the wins:
Rob Graham, Evie Knight, Leo Britz, Amelie Eaton, Olivia Webb, Marcus Mullen, Harry Stephens, Jack Davey, Jake Hart, Brett Dove, Claire Mardell, Connor Jocelyn, Steven Matthews and Matthew Pratley.

The podiums concluded the day and it was the end to another superb Schwalbe British 4X Series event.

The final rounds of Schwalbe British 4X Series take place on September 20th and 21st at Twisted Oaks Bikepark in Suffolk. It’s going to be an incredible season finale.
See you all trackside.
